Vicki Sheedy, the strategic program manager in e-health for the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine, says Australias embrace of technology will not only help train medical professionals but also to deliver medical care to isolated communities.

The NBN will mean we can do more things, even streamed video of operations on the internet,Ms Sheedy says.

The college has already developed an educational program for the Royal Flying Doctor Service and has been commissioned for a similar project with an Indigenous health service to help more than 150 health centres in remote Australia.

With the NBN we will be able to ramp up the multimedia content of our integrated online learning platform,Ms Sheedy says.
